Strengths

Darius Cole is the most physically gifted corner I have evaluated in the 2026 class. His 4.38 speed is legitimate — he ran it at our combine in full pads. His 40-inch vertical gives him the ability to win every jump ball and his closing speed on underneath routes is elite. He has natural press technique and his jam at the line of scrimmage disrupts timing routes consistently.

Areas for Development

Needs to improve his zone coverage instincts — he is a natural man corner but needs to develop comfort reading the quarterback in zone. Can get too physical at times which draws flags. Needs to improve his academic profile to satisfy admissions requirements at top programs.

Strengths

Elite athleticism and physicality. Darius plays with a chip on his shoulder that translates to consistent effort on every snap. His ball production is outstanding — 6 interceptions and 14 pass breakups this season. His commitment to Miami is well-earned; he is a program-changing talent at the position.

Areas for Development

Technique in off-man coverage needs refinement — he relies heavily on athleticism to recover when he gets beat off the line. Zone recognition is a work in progress. Needs to improve his tackling technique in run support to be a complete corner at the next level.

His film shows a player who impacts the game every time he is on the field. His commitment to Miami is a major win for the Hurricanes. He has the tools to be a first-round NFL Draft pick if he continues to develop.

Areas for Development

The only area holding him back from a 5-star rating is his zone coverage technique and academic profile. Both are fixable. If he commits to his zone reads the way he commits to his press technique, he will be unguardable at the college level.
